A Number of Injured as Turbulence Strikes Delta Plane Landing at Sydney

Multiple passengers and crew were hurt when a Delta Airlines jet originating in LA to Sydney experienced significant turbulence this past Friday.

The flight, numbered 41 "experienced a brief period of turbulence" as it landed at the Sydney airport, an airline spokesperson informed. Several cabin crew members sustained injuries.

The New South Wales Ambulance Service stated they evaluated five patients, and transferred three of them to hospital with relatively minor issues that comprised spinal discomfort and migraines. The injured were between their 30s up to the 70s.

This marks the newest example of aircraft being hit by atmospheric disturbance, with aviation specialists saying that global warming is a significant contributor.

There were 245 passengers and a crew of 15 on the Airbus A350, the representative noted, stating that the plane arrived "without further incident" at Sydney Airport at 06:48 local time on Friday morning.

The NSW Ambulance Service indicated they got a call just three minutes ahead of the plane touched down, and emergency vehicles were standing by on the runway.

In 2024, travelers and staff on a certain international flight experienced a harrowing brief five-second bout of severe turbulence. A traveler died and numerous people sustained injuries, as individuals not fastened in rose out of their seats and were slammed back.

Turbulence is fairly routine while flying, and while cases of strong or severe turbulence seem to be rising, they are statistically infrequent.
