Emails Reveal Jeffrey Epstein and Steve Bannon Ties

Steve Bannon
Bannon was one of the former president's key strategists prior to stepping down from the administration in 2017

In late 2018, Steve Bannon, formerly a top aide to Donald Trump, visited the UK to deliver a address at the prestigious Oxford Union.

The event was disrupted by numerous demonstrators, and Bannon, who was due to travel that evening, told Jeffrey Epstein in an message: "Activists slowed down my talk don't think I can make the flight we are heading to the airport".

Epstein replied: "There. Is a Gulf Air that leaves at 950 with a layover in Bahrain". Bannon replied: "You are an excellent helper".

These exchanges were published on this week together with more than 20,000 pages from the estate of Epstein, the late convicted sex offender.

The disclosure by the House oversight committee contains an text conversation where Bannon's name is withheld. Media outlets managed to confirm his identity by matching the timeline, events, and places mentioned.

For instance, Epstein talks about chartering a jet from the UK for the redacted user in the chat, and offers praise their "address at Oxford". Bannon took part in the Edinburgh conference on November 14, and gave the talk at the Oxford Union on November 16.

Bannon, who is not accused of any misconduct, did not reply on the request for comment.

Epstein's Assurance to Bannon

Bannon was one of Trump's closest advisers in the run up to the 2016 election and during the initial phase of his presidency, but resigned from the White House in 2017.

He has acknowledged he was producing a documentary about Epstein before his death and allegedly has around 15 hours of footage. In a recording of his show earlier this year, he said: "We plan to release the series, the multi-part documentary, in the coming year - at the start of next year."

But the recently disclosed documents suggest Bannon's relationship with Epstein went further than being his biographer, with the disgraced financier at times appearing to serve like a personal assistant.

A few days before the exchange in which Epstein appeared to have arranged a charter jet for Bannon, Epstein remarked: "how does it feel to have the highest-paid travel agent in history ".

Bannon expressed gratitude: "You are pretty good assistant", to which Epstein responded "Massages. Excluded".

Discussing a visit to "AD" in a separate text, Epstein assured Bannon: "I will ensure you are well looked after."

UK Politics Discussed in Messages

The released messages also show Bannon and Epstein talking about UK politics in that year.

Earlier on the day of his address at the Oxford Union, Bannon messaged Epstein: "I've gotten pulled into the EU exit thing this morning with Farage, Johnson and Rees Mogg."

Then, in what appears to be a allusion to the UK prime minister, the embattled UK prime minister at the time, he added: "They are trying to proceed. may soon…"

Epstein suggested Bannon: "In my view staying as long as you can uk. Best-- so people get the commitment of your follow through."

Soon after, Epstein inquired: "Will Theresa may remain in power". Bannon replied: "It seems unlikely BUT the people over here have little courage" and added "Johnson ; Michael Gove; Rees Mogg; Davis - someone has to take charge".

Theresa May was eventually removed in May 2019 after withstanding two votes of no confidence in December 2018.

A representative for Reform UK told media: "Nigel Farage has never been in a meeting with Steve Bannon, Rees-Mogg and Johnson." And there is nothing to suggest such a meeting took place.

The Congress will decide soon on whether the justice department should make public all its files related to its investigation into Epstein, who died in jail in that year.

Interest in Epstein's associations with powerful figures was renewed recently after the release of more than 20,000 pages from his archives.

Some of those referenced the former president, who has repeatedly denied any impropriety. The president was a friend of Epstein's for years, but says they fell out in the early 2000s, two years prior to Epstein was initially charged.
