The second-hand shopping app has updated its sizing categories for female and kids' apparel but did not contact all shoppers about the modification. Online Platforms Backlash Numerous buyers and vendors are expressing on platforms stating that platform listings now display an altered size classification than originally posted as a result of the reclassification. The company said the updated approach better aligns with comparable marketplaces. They have suggested members to check their listings and adjust the sizing manually when needed, which has left users frustrated. Size Classification Updates Earlier, the sizes had both numerical and alphabetical indicators, for instance S/8 or M/10. The new system has a letter with a size spectrum for example S/UK 8-10. With some products, the size labels have been reassigned - for example a size L used to be a 12 but is now a UK 16-18. Shopper Experiences Frankie Bridger, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder". "Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," as the platform currently indicates. A different member, from Glasgow, said garments she listed featuring size 14 markings were appearing on the platform as measurements 20-22. "If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they're going to be very disappointed," she explained. Required Changes Charlotte Lunn, from Derby, explained she became annoyed due to the update requiring manual adjustment the sizing for "all her products". "For me this is particularly frustrating, because of my ongoing medical condition and selling on Vinted has been paramount following partial earnings loss," she said. Service Background The platform boasts over 100 million users, including 18 million in the UK. It has become a favored option compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop. This represents another occasion when a surprising modification within the service has received backlash: previously, Vinted reversed a change regarding delivery choices following member complaints.
